Neverland burial without a permit is illegal

It is illegal to bury Michael Jackson at Neverland Valley Ranch without a residential exemption permit and only ranches with grandfathered personal cemeteries could be approved for a permit. It is now clear Michael Jackson will not be buried at Neverland contrary to previous news reports by the media. It was hoped a public viewing of Jackson’s body could take place at Neverland.

The singer’s family, wanted a funeral at Jackson’s former home north of Santa Barbara and was not able to obtain a residential exemption required for a burial on private property. Colony Capital, the investment company that purchased Neverland in May 2008, tried to get an exemption for burial. “They couldn’t get it in time,” a Colony spokesperson says.

The Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland, this statement was released by the family’s public relations firm.

The family has now ruled out the possibility of burying the pop star at his Neverland Valley Ranch. Officials were unable to clear the way for the burial, according to reports due to time restrictions and red tape associated with a burial at the property.

Santa Barbara County communications director William Boyer told news agency AFP that authorities had never received any communication from the Jackson family regarding the funeral. “We would love to be able to talk directly with the Jackson family or their representatives,” Boyer said. “We’ve been trying to reach them directly. We’ve had no formal contact at all. There’s been no requests.”

The state’s health and safety rules makes burying remains outside a cemetery illegal and has been classed as a misdemeanour offence. Authorities also have claimed a special events permit would have be required if the family intended to hold public viewings of Michael’s remains at Neverland. Don Loper, director for the Loper Funeral Chapel in nearby Ballard, had a succinct answer to the question. “No,” said Loper, explaining that, legally, only ranches with grandfathered personal cemeteries may be used to bury remains. Of course, ashes could be scattered anywhere.

It is feared these rules could easily destroy chances of turning Neverland into a Graceland-like shrine to Michael Jackson for his legions of fans. As the Jackson family are now barred from burying Michael at the ranch. A private memorial service could take place there, most likely after the funeral which is now likely to occour in LA.

Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson’s heartbreaking final journey

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on July 1, 2009 by Mark Twynham

The media have made claimed over the past few days that Michael Jackson’s body may make a heartbreaking final journey to Neverland Valley Ranch. These reports have not come to fruition. TMZ.com, CNN and other media organisations have disclosed the Jackson family had considered a public viewing at Neverland, which would create a pilgrimage of fans to the isolated Neverland Ranch which is located about a four hour drive north east of Los Angeles.

It was reported a 30-car motorcade planed to escort Michael’s body on Thursday to the King of Pop’s estate Neverland Valley Ranch. It is becoming clear that Neverland may have become a monument to Michael Jackson. Fans are saying that the star should be buried at Neverland and would like to see it transformed into a memorial similar to Elvis Presley’s Graceland.

If plans to create a memorial to Michael Jackson at Neverland continue, it gives an indication that the Jackson family may have everlasting hope for Neverland. County officials reported they had received no formal notification of a memorial but were “preparing to accommodate a large event” if the Jackson family initiated a request for a Neverland memorial.

Neverland estate fell into disrepair after becoming an alleged crime scene in the 2005 trial of the star on child molestation charges. Jackson vacated the property after his acquittal of the charges in 2005, saying he felt the property had been violated by the search and the investigation. He never lived there again.

The long-term fate of Neverland will be the topic of many legal and financial issues arising from Jackson’s sudden death. The legal team for the Jackson family said they had confirmed the will, which will be filed in court on Wednesday.

It has still not been confirmed by the family exactly where Michael Jackson will be buried and when or where the funeral will be held. A worldwide outpouring of tributes to the music legend continue.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ return to Neverland

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on July 1, 2009 by Mark Twynham

It was a 36 hour thriller as details emerged that a burial for Michael Jackson may take place at his former home, Neverland Valley Ranch. Plans for the public viewing of the body were to be held Friday or Saturday at Neverland with fans from all over the world expected to visit the property at Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, CA 93441.

Michael Jackson’s body was predicted to to be driven by a 30-car motorcade to Neverland Ranch late on Thursday morning. Law enforcement meet to discuss security and traffic control and no doubt initially had Neverland in their sites.

It is still not clear where or when Jackson will be buried. The law required a permit for a Neverland burial and time did not permit for all the red tape and authorities to approve a permit, if at all it would be approved. Many local residents were opposed to the burial there because it will turn their quiet town and country roads into a worldwide tourist attraction.

Jackson purchased Neverland in 1988 and turned the ranch into his own private amusement park and zoo.

At one time, the property had 150 staff and cost Jackson $1,000,000 a month to run. Jackson lost the property in 2008 when he defaulted on $24.5 million owed on the loan. In November 2008 he transferred the title to Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC but Jackson still owned a state in that company. In recent times the facility has been run down and dismantled and the animals have been relocated.

Neverland may become next Graceland.

Recent reports speculate that Michael Jackson’s home, Neverland, or Neverland Valley Ranch as it is officially known could be turned into a tourist mausoleum much like the Gracelands home of the late Elvis Presley. The park could be considered as Jackson’s burial site and would certainly include Michael’s grave as the central attraction.

The proposal has apparently come from Tohme Tohme, Jackson’s former manager and special ambassador to the company Senegal. Mr Tohme works with, Colony Capital LLC. This is the firm that holds the mortgage notes on Neverland and saved the title from a financial disaster that was facing the star. The idea is to turn the estate into a new Graceland.

The possibility is likely to be met by substantial legal issues and financial arrangements, and if a funeral were to take place a permit will be required to bury someone on site.

Neverland covers an area of over 2,800 acres (11 km2) and is on a typical two-lane country road opposite a school, in the hills above the Santa Ynez Valley, located about five miles (8 km) north of unincorporated Los Olivos. Many locals feel the location is not equipped for heavy traffic which will transport hundreds of tourists on a daily basis. Joe Jackson, spokesperson for the Jackson family has since denied these claims, however it still remains a mystery where and when Michael Jackson will be buried.

Michael Jackson is Neverland?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 27, 2009 by Mark Twynham

It is interesting that Michael Jackson made this video not knowing the future of Neverland.  He did say, he would never sell Neverland.  No wonder Michael Jackson felt depressed about Neverland. The vision was obviously tuning into an emotional, social and financial nightmare and in the end had all the hallmarks of a shattered dream.
